Yes. Leather NATOs use the same pass-through construction as nylon ones. The backup comes from how it's threaded, not what it's made of.
Can I swim in it?
No. Leather is for dress and vintage pairings — not swimming, heavy sweat or wet-weather wear. Grab nylon or silicone for that.
